Dimensions must describe the shape
For a rectangle, multiply length by width. For a triangle, multiply base by perpendicular height and divide by two. The height is not necessarily the longest side. Feet and meters are converted before the result is shown in acres, square feet and hectares. Irregular land should be measured with a closed polygon rather than forcing it into a rectangle.
Drawing on the map
Add corners around the parcel and close the polygon. The map computes spherical area and perimeter from latitude and longitude. Move corners to refine the shape. Satellite images and clicked corners can differ from legal boundaries or a survey. The coordinate-entry fallback lets keyboard users calculate without a pointer or third-party map tiles.
A measure is not a boundary opinion
This tool does not retrieve deed boundaries, easements or surveyed parcel lines. Horizontal map distance can differ from fence length on sloped ground. Satellite imagery can have alignment errors. Use a licensed survey for boundary disputes, construction setbacks or a transaction that requires certified acreage.
Units are exact; the measurement may not be
One international acre equals 43,560 square feet and 4,046.8564224 square meters. The unit conversion is exact, but a map outline is only as accurate as the selected corners. Area results do not establish usable, buildable or saleable acreage. Wetlands, access, zoning and setbacks can reduce the area relevant to your plans.
